[NEW user]. Mobile Devices with same name as PC Devices?

in Fing App
When using the app and scanning, many different devices pops up with the same name. Example my PC name is Mads-PC. It's pop up as a pc, but then there are 2 iPhones devices with the same name. The same thing happens with another PC in the household, where 2 iPhones popup aswell. And forsure, there are only 1 iPhone in the house. Any help on this? + I tried to scan, when friends are on the network aswell, but can't see them?

A few questions:
- Do you have 2.4 and 5 Ghz on your network?
- Do you have multiple access points?
- Are you using iPhone iOS 11 + or Android with 10+?
if you let me know, we can help further.

I had noticed in my Fingbox that sometimes the user profile, image was duplicated, I quit out of the device and entered back in and it was corrected. Also, have you processed any steps on your own to rectify or duplicate the issue successfully?

I'm not sure if the router is 2.4 or 5 Ghz (not totally sure what you mean, since I dont know so much about networks)
By multiple acccess points, i'm quite sure there is only one.
And yes I am on IOS 11+
The 4 Mobile devices have the same MAC adresse "02:00:00:00:00:00", but different IP-adresse. The PC's have different MAC adresses.

Can you tell me if you are able to see these devices only on web app or Fing App as well? If you are able to see these devices in Fing App as well then please click on those devices and remove it and then run the scan again to see if it appears again. As you mentioned you dont have a Fingbox, I would like to confirm if the location permissions are enabled for your Fing App or not? If you are not sure and if you are unable to see the location permissions for the Fing App under phone settings then, I would like you to follow these steps and location permissions pop up will appear to be enabled.
1) Open Fing App and go to 'Network' tab
2) Click on the ISP tab and it will open the Network page
3) Clear out the Network information such as Address.
4) Next, to the MAP section, there is a small icon to auto-detect location. Click on the icon and location permissions will be asked.
And, if possible upgrade your ios version to latest update and see if it fixes your issue.

Can you have a look here? https://community.fing.com/discussion/830/ios-13-fing-app
If not all location permissions are enabled:
- enable the permissions
- delete app and re-install
Let me know if that fixes things for you.

Im using an older version than IOS 13. I took my old samsung phone and connected it to the wifi, to see if something would pop-up on the fing app scan. A new generic came online at this moment, and i’m sure it”s the phone, I double checked. (there are already 3-4 others generics). What is a “generic” thing in the scan? I’ve downloaded the app to help me find suspicious things, such as spycams, when traveling in AirBnb and other hotels. So I would really like a more specific name, instead of “generic”.
Thank you for taking your time helping me! :)
Generic is usually because we cannot get the MAC address of the device. This is because Apple/Android have blocked access to the ARP table on iOS 11 + and Android 10+. Here are the full details of this change here:

However, we're working at it. Improving recognition through other means and also new products.
We're also launching a desktop version of the app which will be released VERY soon in beta.
If you follow this category here: https://community.fing.com/categories/announcements
You can join the test.
This will definitely improve your device recognition.
