iPadOS 13 - a new era?

This weekend I finally got around to upgrading my 2016 iPad 9.7" Pro from iOS 12.1 to iOS 13.1.2 and I am super happy with the latest changes.

I thought the updates they did to the dock on the iPad in iOS 11 were good, but some of the new features in iPadOS 13 are simply stellar in comparison. Finally, bliss upon blissitude, we have mouse control! This one feature alone makes it all worth while. My main use case is to allow me to do remote support of my Sql Servers. Many of the issues we have require RDPing into a server and looking at the underlying issues. Doing this without a mouse on the iPad has been horribly painful. With one upgrade it's gone from painful to easy!

Add to this Dark Mode (I have embraced my dark side!) and widgets (to a degree) on the home screen (it only took Apple, what, 13 OS versions to do what Android did in v1!) and I finally feel that the iPad has found itself a new place in the computing arena (my use case, anyway).

Any other Apple users out there who've found iOS 13\iPadOS 13 has created a new set of use cases for them?

Yeah, I know @kltaylor, Androids had external storage for yonks, Widgets like forever, Dark Mode since Pie(?) and mice connectivity for several years! ;)

Even with being a Windows person, I also like the Mac OS Dark mode as well.
Mouse control on the iPad, eh?  That's pretty nifty ... and like you I like to use modern technology outside of the typical 'laptop' for remote support.  I have nearly every aspect of remote monitoring, accessing and troubleshooting web-based just so I can access it from my tablet, Chromebook, etc.
    Sounds like good stuff!

I also have a pro 9.7 with the apple keyboard and with 13.x, its almost eliminated the need for me to use a laptop.  @Pooh did you know it should also support a bluetooth mouse.  You need to activate that feature in the assistive part of settings.  I have yet to try that but its the last piece of the puzzle for me.  By the way, if you have the right Mac and if you've updated to Catalina, you can use the iPad Pro plus pen as a Wacom like device to the Mac.  Something I'm going to try this weekend when I get a chance.

@Marc - it worked perfectly with my Logitech MX Ergo Trackball in Bluetooth mode.

I'm running a backup right now on my work MacBook before I Catalinaize it tomorrow!

Oh that’s cool.  I have a Logitech mx something or another I’ll try it on.  The Catalina update was very uneventful but....  32 bit apps are no longer supported so if you have any you still use, be aware.  I only had 1 issue with my cars map update software, 32 bit of course.  Hopefully they’ll have an update by December when the new maps out.

Yeah, I'd purged both my home and work MacBooks of all 32 bits these last couple of weeks. All but one app had a workable update so I consider that a victory. Thankfully there's a pretty easy way to ID these 32 bit apps so I'd been using that to do the cleanup.
