Any idea why a Linksys WRT3200ACM shows as having Apple as the manufacturer?

    How is this device manifesting itself as an Apple item? Would you be able to take some screenshots to illustrate this?

    Hi @Jmac - do you mean in the Fing App when you scan?
    Sometimes, there can be something that needs improvement in the algorithm for device recognition. In this case we recommend entering as many details as possible about the device in the Fing App to correct the information. Then, the algorithm can learn and be corrected - this generally takes some time. In the meantime, I'm flagging this to our support team. 
    @Pooh may leave here for now once we see if this is related to the Fing App or not!

    For something like this, I think I'd like to review any screenshots that you can capture to show us what's happening.

    Yes screenshot would be great. Device mis-matches do happen and correct themselves over time. It's a device recognition algorithm and then that improves the more users correct the information! A screenshot definitely helps too though.

    I might be able to give an example of this, though I don't have the same setup that used to produce it.  My former WRT3200ACM when paired with a Linksys range extender, had this same behavior.  Example,  if the range extender had a iPad associated to it, it might show up in fing as apple manufactured device one week, and an epson the next because a printer was now also associated.  I brought this up years ago early in testing with Fing and it was explained to me that its just the way some extenders behaved with Fing.  Wish I could find that conversation...

    Quick edit:  I have not seen this behavior since I swapped out the WRT3200ACM for a EA9300 a year or so ago...

    That's interesting. Yet another reason why to not invest money into WiFi extenders.
