Identifying unknown devices by IP only

Noob here - just ran my first scan. I have 3 generic devices showing up that I can't identify. It only gives their IP addresses. I assume one is my echo and another is a smart plug. I have no idea what the 3rd is. Is there an easy way to identify them? Below are the results of the open port scan.
  • Device 1: 22 ssh, 23 telnet, 53 domain, 80 http, 443 https
  • Device 2: no open ports found
  • Device 3: 1080 socks, 8888 sun-answerbook

@StickS, that device 3, port 8888 could be something with a web server built in.  Apparently, as its a deprecated port, some systems use it as a kind of security by obscurity type of http port. (Best I could find in a quick search was something called newsedge service that uses it).

To identify it, sometimes I google the Mac address to see if it can identify the system.

http://www.mylanviewer.com/network-ip-scanner.html  was a solution for me. I only had an IP address, but mylanviewer told me the MAC address and vendor. Searched for vendor and it was my alarm system...

Honestly, if I cannot identify something through any other means, either shut everything down and connect one at a time to see when that device connects, or my favorite way ....block the sucker and wait until someone yells. =)

@MarcelloBello - you could keep that as the only one online? Is that one of the device's you cannot identify?

It was the last of devices  showed as generic. But I found it out with Mylanviewer. So all devices are identified.

An alternative to Mylanviewer, since its Shareware with a 15 day trial period, take a look at Advanced IP Scanner.
