Hi

Is it possible to check the connected devices (with the fing app) from a distance?

When jou, yourself, are not connected to the networks wifi?

Another suggestions on how to do do?

    You'll need a fingbox for that.

    With one of these, the Fing app can show you which devices are still connected to the network to which the Fingbox is connected to.

    With the app by itself?  No ... What situation are you experiencing that brought this question up?

    And how would that work? Does it also show the new devices connected when away?

    What situation ? Parental supervision :)

    @Maarten_j82 Yeah! Fingbox will show you new and known devices on your network, it can be configure to give you an alert if an specific device "arrive" or "left" your network, with the Fingbox you can associate a device to a "user" so you can know their comes and goes from the network (no localization info here just connect/disconnect from your network). And so on.  Fingbox is a physical appliance connected directly to your network to monitored it, so the box send you notifications by mail or the App, and in a normal monitor maintenance, the App connect to the box too and the box do a lot more thing than the App alone (in a network without a Fingbox, the app, collects the info on demand)

    Fing has a 'sister company' called Domotz.  This is what I use in our business environment and seems to work out quite well.  Not only can you set up the service to do what Fingbox does, but it can also monitor specific services and functions of devices.
    As an example, our main server has several TCP ports being monitored for WebDav, VPN and Quickbooks services.  If the service stops or is unresponsive for any number of reasons, I receive an alert to investigate.

    @Hronos thank you. I M going to order a fingbox. Oké last question. How do i look at it?

    A. Do i need to place the fingbox between the wifi and other devices so connect the devices to the fingbox?

    Or

    B. Do i just connect the fingbox to the wifi?

    @Maarten_j82 Hi!

    Fingbox is a wired appliance, so it has to be connected to the network via Ethernet cable (it came with one) if your router has Ethernet ports you can use one of them, if you already have a network swith, you can connect the box on it too.
