Search isn't finding it for me.  Can someone describe how to update the FW on the Fingbox?  Mine is showing ver 1.15.1.

hi Carsten, join the club. My reset switch is missing also.. but be patient. The problem now is not with your fingbox but with the servers at fing/AWS
They are working and there are times it seems to work. The advice was not to reset your device to avoid a lot of traffic to the AWS servers. So be patient and open a bottle of wine..(or some bottles, depending on the time it will take;)

just open the 3 litte torx on the backside, while you have detouched the blue rubber....
but it does not make sense there is nothing to restart you can just unplug and plug again form the current.
The AWS services around the Fingbox are having problems you should still wait...
Thx Peter, but are you kidding, or do you really need to physically open the case to update firmware?  Assuming this is done over the air.

As i said it is senseless and unnecessary, firmware is updated via internet when you connct to it...

Thanks for the transparency in the thread from Fing. I have been pulling cables and resetting firmware for a couple of weeks now as the online/offline has been driving me nuts... I shall sit tight and hope the debugging is successful.

It is not solved, just deactivated all notifications. After a test last night I had the same issue again. There are a lot customers of Fing still waiting for a solution.

I’m not convinced this is a Fing problem. AWS appears to be having bandwidth problems causing these issues as Fing has done everything to clear their side of the fence. As AWS is very big business they will be very protective in admitting it’s their problem . Bandwidth issues can be internal (like a virus or load balancing ) or external (DOS attacks) but I don’t trust AWS since they have become politicised.

I have 17 Offline/Online alerts starting at 2:56am (GMT -6).  I don't know whether these alerts are worse than the 33 email alerts that posts to this thread have generated.  I am certain that both are highly annoying, and it continues to amaze me that there is not the technical competence on the Fing support team to identify and resolve the root cause of the issue.

I am not amused about AWS and not amused about Fing, we are waiting now since weeks for the problem to get solved. A fingbox with disabled notifications doesn't make sense to me. I have to look around for alternatives after 4 Years stress-free working with.

I do not think its a AWS problem. As with these kind of services you get what you pay for.
If a lot of bandwidth is mandatory you have to pay for it. if a lot of serverpower is necessary the same.. load-balancing has a cost impact etc etc..

    Hi All,
I am sharing Marco's reply from other thread so to update everyone here as well
Marco: Among the many other tests/attempts, we made a full manual copy of the disk (rather than taking data from the regular backup snapshots), and noticed that the original SSK gets to a ridiculously low IOPS at time, suggesting there might still be some HW issue related to the malfunctions.
Anyway, the disk has been replaced again using real data and not backup data, just to see if there was any invalid/corrupt data that might trigger the situation.

Internal queues have been optimized and we did not see any more spikes for a few days.

I know this is quite unnerving for users; all the work done so far has also helped to reduce and remove the noise of side effects and hopefully pinpoint only the root cause.

[I see the discussion about fingbox monitoring going down over the last few days]. I am getting regular false warnings (several per day over last 2 weeks) that a device is offline on my home network.  I don't have a fingbox, am getting warnings  from fing desktop notification that the device is down (when in fact it's a linux server,  the one device that never goes down...). Another warning just now. I can see the server is alive and can ping it / log in via SSH from the local machine (W10 laptop) running fing desktop. This server is the only device with monitoring "on" that is triggering warnings (my other linux server, monitoring is on, connected to same network & switch, is not triggering). So it's not clear what's triggering the warning. I don't want to turn monitoring off because its clearly a useful function. Since I don't have a fingbox, I am assuming this is not the same issue as the outage discussion (which is fixed anyway, they say) - or could it be. Any thoughts anyone?

So happy I found this thread. I'm experiencing the same issues - sporadic offlining of my V1 fingbox. Looking forward to a resolution.

In at least some cases whatever they've done has worked, my v1 hasn't had any false alarms for about a week now...

    Hi All,
Thanks for your patience. Just to update everyone, our developers are closely monitoring the servers and we haven't had any repeat of shard issue for the last 5 days (excluding any isolated Fingbox offline issue). We are still monitoring the shards for any changes and as we receive any more updates, we will update you all.

I have stayed out of the comments for quite some time, waiting for a fix. In my case I still constantly get notifications that the Fing box has lost contact and then re-connects. This has been going on now for a long time.

Strange, my FB has been stable for the last several days.  I wonder why some continue to have issues, while others seem to have returned to normal performance.

Don't know if it helps or hurts but I am also getting seemingly random intermittent outages with Fing...and SmartThings and Hue. But does not show up on streaming (TV, Sonos) or browsing devices. Outage time varies from 5ish min to an hour and happens almost every hour.

Have AT&T fiber to Google Home routers.

I have lost track of how long this has been going on (I think 10 months or so). The last communication from Fing to me was that they suggest it is a hardware fault. Given the vast number of people with this problem, does it mean there has been a mass failure of the Fing box?
I just gave up and ignore the disconnections. Otherwise the device is working.
