    We have a very small margin on the product which doesn't allow for many promos. 
    If we do ever run a promo, I try my best to make sure Fingbox users get it first and get the greatest discount. 
    Sometimes over Black Friday/Cyber Monday, we do promos of the box. 
    We don't have any promos for Fingbox users as we aren't encouraging an upgrade as necessary. We have intentions for both boxes to support all features at present.
    I'll definitely keep the community informed if anything is coming out!

    In reviewing the Fingbox FAQ regarding v2, there wasn't mention regarding a 'trade-up' option for purchase.  However, since I am not an official spokesperson for Fing, the question could be addressed by @VioletChepil or another member of her team that can.

    Given that there's no need to require anyone yo upgrade (the v1 is 100% usable in its current state) I get the feeling that there are no upgrade paths available.

    That said, as @kltaylor surmised, the best answer will be from @VioletChepil and the folks at Fing central.

    That said, it be great to be able to WiFi fence using 5GHz as well as recognize 5GHz networks, and possibly a supported USB fob on the v1 box....

    @joltdude I don't believe 5Ghz is even possible on the v1 box.

    Off the shelf its not, but there is  that USB port on the side that a wireless fob could be plugged into.....

    Given that the direction is v2, I'd be somewhat shocked if they'd do that, have a potential substandard result (not using their radio, compatibility issues with Linux etc.) and an overlap with the v2 which could eat the v2 sales.

    Just being realistic is all...
