Totally agree, the app become like a Casino with banners, buttons, popups, etc trying to catch me into the Premium Plans for use my Fingbox as always!.

Your explanation only means you abandoned the Fingbox in behalf of your Premium Plan, because normally you release new features to the Fingbox from time to time, and now this features are Premium, or with the Fingbox are Basic (like History Internet Speed, etc) pushing to us to get a subscription when the Fingbox never work on this way for get full functionality.

I know the Pandemic is affecting to all and you are trying to get money from everywhere, but you must honored your Fingbox user and keep a clean, polished, and complete app. Otherwise, release another app for promote your "Casino". But abandoned the Fingbox or giving to us only half tools is not honestly.

With the changes to the app, what actual functionality is left in having the box?  It no longer seems to do anything!

It was the best app until they started to charge everything.... I bought the fing.box device in order to have more features and no ads. Now they start again to charge all new features. Also keep in mind that nowdays all new routers ex fritz has the same features and more for free...

To clarify, the Fingbox and mobile app have the same and actually a bit more features and functionality then it had when it came out of crowdsourcing. That includes a consistently updated mobile app.

No features have been removed or are being charged for a mobile app user when paired with a Fingbox.

@Harris78 , what are you being charged for on your mobile app with a Fingbox so we understand the issue?

In the application now they are options with a star that you have to be premium user in order to use.
Also there is a banner to "promt" you to become premium user...
Friendly I say again that nowdays all these premium features that you want a subscription, are offered free by all the big router manufactorers. So I think that your marketing policy is wrong. Thats all!

To reiterate, there are no functions when you pair the mobile app with a Fingbox that are now premium where they were free before. Nothing has been removed or put behind a paywall that was previously available.

If you are missing former functions that you once had, please let us know so Fing can investigate.

    https://community.fing.com/discussion/5585/event-history-shows-only-2-events-blocked-by-pay-wall#latest

Here is my OP about how the Fing app on Android now requires a subscription to review all event histories for devices. This used to be free and I could see all history of all devices from the time it was discovered in Fing. Now, events are being held hostage behind a pay wall. After reading this thread the admins are telling us Fingbox functionality as it has been will stay the same. However, based on what I am encountering now after the recent Fing app "premium" update push on Android, that statement is far from accurate. From what I can tell certain features that have been part of Fingbox for years are now being limited and require a subscription to unlock. This is not good at all. I have screen shots proving it. Admins feel free to call this a bug.

And I understand why Fingbox users are confused. If I click on the premium button in the Fing app on Android I am told that premium unlocks intrusion alerts, time line of events and security checks which are features that have ALWAYS been available for Fingbox users. Now they aren't??? So confusing. Are you guys stiffing us or not?

My discussion in the above link was deleted with no explanation. Sounds like a cover up to me. You guys aren't helping your case by silencing your customers.

Love how they are avoiding these complaints trying to convince us that using the app to control the fingbox was some kind of gift rather than part of the solution before.  Now they charge for the app via subscription so we are just dicked.  How about grandfathering us in?

My Fingbox used to be very useful, but now it seems to be asking for some kind of 'membership' for premium access. How do I access the features that I paid for my Fingbox to provide?

I have a very simple request. Bring back the initial features from Fingbox. Something like email notification of new users, or user joining the network configuration. Premium should be to provide additional features not to keep old features. This is abuse. :(

Question: why did I stopped receiving notifications when someone joins my network? I do I configure this back? Was surprised with new update today asking to update email notifications and was surprised with a new premium...

I have been using the Fingbox since it was first released and to be honest I find it to be a reliable device that does what I expected it to do and more.  The Fingbox is just a NAC (Network Access Control) device and not a Firewall with content monitoring and filtering.

I have never regretted buying this device and I have recommended it on several occasions.

@Ciaran, thanks for taking time answering all my previous posts. These changes (Premium) and quite unclear options in the app made all this confusion and complaints. Hope Fing can keep things more clear and not push to much on the premiums. I am an earlier supporter so believe in the product!

@Ciaran I've said it numerous times and I'll say it again. Bait and switch. Functions are not the same as they once we're. You saying it over and over again doesn't make it so. You've limited history viewing on speed test, state change and stripped statistical data on the monthly reports. All require a premium subscription to unlock what we used to have for years. Bait and switch. Bait and switch. Bait and switch. See I can do it to. Broken record. Bait and switch. Customers are getting screwed over and you know it. Fing can no longer be trusted. #Fingbaitandswitch #FinglikeCerberus

@Ciaran you can say the same things over and over. It doesn't change the fact that what we were able to do with the Fingbox using the mobile app, which is how we were instructed to use it, and it does NOT function with the same features without your new 'subscription' model. People are pissed. You can try to explain it away and some who passively just accept going from a pay once device to a subscription model will accept it, but those of us who aren't passive or ignorant are pissed off. You can either figure out a way to make it right to us or lose us as customers and evangelists of your products. It's that simple but please stop with the bs answers they aren't doing you any favors they are only making us more angry. Lawyers in the US salivate over potential class action lawsuits on this kind of shady business practice. I recommend you take care of your current customers and not let things get to that point or your business stands to lose more than its worth. Enough with Jedi mind tricking us into thinking we are delusional and we should all open our wallets up blindly to you.

@Ciaran the tools remain but some have been limited, gutted, stripped of what they used to be. You stated history has been changed. Free is now 7 days of history and premium is 30 days. That is a change yet you say everything functions as it once did. That is a lie right there. It used to be unlimited history. I used to be able to see months if not years worth of history data for state event changes and speed test. Now it's limited to 7 days. And monthly reports have lost specific statistical day to day readings. Again a change. Do you deny it? You keep word playing and trying to avoid the truth. I've posted screen shots. The proof is there whether you see it or not. You also have premium messages in the mobile app stating to unlock features like intrusion alerts that you claim are still part of the Fing Box. So then why Is the message there? It makes people think the alerts have gone away ironically after an email glitch in your system happened so it makes it look like people have to pay up to return the email alerts. You just don't get it and you never will. Just keep doing what you do best, Repeat the same answers over and over again and lie, you're great at that. The bigger question is are you and the Fing team going to make it right? Not holding my breath.

I have read through most if not all posts and it looks like Fingbox owners are not liking the new Premium services being implemented. My suggestion is to give the fingbox owners an app that is clean and free of your subscription model. As you mentioned numerous times it is a separate product. If it is a separate product then make it so as the casino like advertising within the app is annoying. Please correct the home page so there is no confusion in Fingbox features. Your Dev team should be able to do this easily. You can hide the subscription services under the account info and if you Fingbox users want to subscribe then they can do so there. Also stop taking away features such as the ones mentioned by @Ciaran. I am a Fingbox original user and loved your product but if you keep taking away features and limiting original options you will lose customers that are looking to buy Fingbox v2 and higher. If you are going to be dropping your hardware model then please let us know so we can move on to other competitors that offer what we want as a consumer.

Also, we will be adding additional features for Fingbox, however this will be part of the Fing Premium Subscription.

    And therein lies the problem...
You really don't get it, do you? People who paid for the device do not want anything at all to do with any subscriptions.

You're completely alienating your user base - those of us who have already invested are more than pissed off with this. You're not encouraging us to pay more, you're encouraging us to go look for other solutions to what the Fingbox can do, such as Home Assistant.

    1. We can't do things we used to do without paying you more money. We don't use the fingbox without the app, nor could we, realistically speaking!
    2. You're not listening, you're responding with misleading marketing speak that denies the experience we are having with your product.
    3. Then you close the discussion.

    Bad form. Lost credibility.
