Hi all,
I've noticed some comments about starting up an education category on the community! (Thanks to those who wrote on the Community Category feedback thread!)

Does anyone have any thoughts on an education category and what that would include? If we did have an education category, what kind of questions/content would you expect to see there?

I guess from my side, perhaps we'd be better off creating sub-categories under each category. For example in devices we could have:
- How to's/guides
- Device reviews

Let me know thoughts on education and whether you think it needs it's own category or whether we should integrate that content naturally under the bigger categories.

As you know we're trying to keep the categories small and let them evolve naturally based on trends. I.e. lots of questions about streaming - we'll open a category/sub-category.

Thanks a lot!
Cheers,
Violet

it's a great idea. I've certainly got some questions, but in reality they may be covered in existing documentation.

Could you post the existing documentation so that we have the opportunity to brief ourselves before asking anything too obvious?

Hey @CaptainBuck - we've got out knowledge base here. https://help.fing.com/ Unfortunately, in this early stage the two are not integrative. This could be a possibility for the future. I am expecting the Community knowledge to grow quite quickly and you can use the search bar to see previous posts on a certain topic. Once we've been live for a few weeks/months then the search will keep improving. Let me know anything else.

@VioletChepil sounds like a good idea and as a first topic, there seems to be lots of inquiries on how fingbox does it’s magic like blocking traffic, discovery etc.  Perhaps the first education series could be on that topic?

@Marc good idea. But my thoughts are that maybe that is better off being a sub-category of Fingbox for example. We want to have like FAQs, reviews, how to's in all the categories etc. and maybe those are better off being on a sub-category level. That way interested parties can get the relevant information that they are searching for. What do you think?

@VioletChepil are you thinking along the lines of how to best secure your router? Configuring IPv6 in a home network (or not, I know it’s a sore spot with the app)? That sort of thing?

    Terms.
I think that if there was a section where we could define, in a clear and easy to understand way, the terms that are commonly used along with the applications that provide useful information to us.
Ping, IP Address, MAC Address, TTL, etc.
