The Australian Situation

Australia is a lony way down the National Broaband Network install and its ended up creating a digital divide. Those that have reliabel FTTP (Fibre to the premises) and those that have FTTN or FTTC - very unreliable coinnections. If you want to learn more follow this link to Gadgetguy, com.au https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/?s=trials and see how I get from 20-300 dropouts a day on FTTN - reusing old copper is a disaster. I want to speak to Fing about a continuous ISP monitor servivce.

Hi Rayzor, thanks for all your great contributions. Hope you don't mind but I think this sits better in Connectivity> Other Countries, so I'm going to move it there. Have you thought about getting a Fingbox for round the clock monitoring?

After many years of pathetic ISP support I have Been using fing box since the launch, definitely the best product I have seen.
Just for an in your face PICTURE of my connection on my pc desktop I use https://netuptimemonitor.com/
I got the latter free and it has been bullet proof for many years.
It is a simple connection health check, ping timing, drop out counter, simple user set up with a log.
fing could do this to if the wanted to.

I am very surprised by your comments.
I am rural Vic nbnfw not quiet line of site and the only real problem is congestion, nbns fault, they did not anticipate streaming.
Ballarat, is a Gold mine, mostly for net connection types.
You can have nothing in some small areas, fttp, fttn, fttk, fw in the rest.
Fibre to the kerb is the latest and should be excellent, I doubt copper is the cause of issues, but will accept that it may be.
My opinion many isps have system problems and NBN has it's own issues, problem is complete lack of honesty.
BTW I finally got an choice/accc "honestybox" connected on my nbnfw yesterday.
(it acts/reports monthly like a fing box! I wonder if fing are involved?)

    Hi Rayzor & Keith,
    Hope you are both well.
Don't want to upset anyone further, but there are many different components of the NBN Network and as we know networks are only as fast as their slowest part.
If your connection is dropping out multiple times a day, there must a physical issue with your line and this should be reported to your ISP for resolution. Modem, Line, Bridge Taps, Port, Sockets & interference all needs to be checked.
As Telco Sydney are an accredited NBN Business Advisor, we have avenues available to escalate issues to NBN for our business customers but please let us know if you want to discuss your issue and we can see how we can help.
    Regards,
    Telco Sydney

Just to be clear, in my case the fw connection is solid, ntd box has all green leds no signal fluctuations at any time.
My netuptime monitor indicates many slow dns pings.
Streaming is impossible since the maintenance work 7/14th Aug
Samsung note9 can hotspot and stream solid with speed of 5-10 mbps from a mobile tower 14 klms away probably los.
I can only think nbnco know something has gone badly wrong at the Gordon tower after the big maintenance, I hope.
(The Wallace tower is not usable from my location, substantial hill in between)

Ok, that is good you have a stable FW connection & signal. Installer has set it up correctly.
If there is no fibre at the mobile tower, NBN may be backhauling over wireless PtP link and this would be the next portion of the network NBN would need to check for congestion. and performance.
I think you should share your isolation test results with your ISP and have them cascade that information back up the chain to NBN.
