Internet download speed fluctuating

Hi,

I am having discussions with my ISP on the stability of the download speed provided. ISP claims stable results above 300 Mbps, where my Fing desktop and Fingbox tell me differently. The green line in the app looks like a sinoide line touching 15 Mbps at the bottom and 340 at the top. The monthly report shows a low value approx every day.

I’m affraid the Fing desktop and the Fingbox app are not completely in agreement with eachother. Maybe because Fingbox is allways online, where my desktop is not.

can anyone suggest an approach to get rock solid proof to fight my rights at the ISP?

Cheers, Ruud

Hi @Corb I use a number of speedcheck app to crosscheck results and have found speedsmart particularly good with fast load times and really good presentation of historical results for onward circulation to your isp if required.
There are IOS & Android versions with more details & downloads at…

    Hey @Corb
When you perform a speed test, for example desktop on Fing, can you always perform a speed test at Mlabs directly and see if the results make sense in comparison to one another?

Right, that can rule out differences in instantaneous measurements, but what about the graph in the app? It tells a story of it’s own.

    Hey @Corb
I agree, based on the graph (in the latter image) there looks like there's trouble with your router and speed. Have you been experiencing low loading times the past month outside of the past 7 days?

It all started to decay on june 2nd when maintenance was done in my community. ISP claims nothing wrong at their end. ISP replaced all components in my internal network graciously (modem, set top box, mesh wifi stations)

jointly we built-up the network step by step without any result. I therefor claim it must be their side, but I have no proof.

If you're looking for a second opinion (besides Fing) on speed over time, there are numerous web based tools that will let you run a speed test over time and graph it.  Perhaps you could use it to supplement to your ISP what Fing is showing?  Here is one example...  https://testmy.net/auto
