I have a Daikin airco in my network.
Fing sees this as a sony playsyation.
How to correct this?

Hi,

The Fing App discovery will identify devices on a best effort basis, based on the information made available by the device, e.g. the MAC address. There are numerous reasons why the device might not be recognised correctly e.g.

- The DHCP server is not refreshing when speaking to your Fing.

- Limited information being offered by specific devices.

We have actually included a new feature: Manual Device recognition - It is now possible to manually recognize devices: when Fing recognition is not sharp enough, you can manually provide the brand and model of your devices. Which will hopefully be of benefit to you. 

To manually identify the misidentified device on Fing app, I would suggest to:  

• Sign in to the Fing app

• Go to Device List   

• Click on the misrecognized device.

• Below the device name and O.S, you will find a text saying "Did we get this right?" 

• If you click on (thumbs_down icon) then it will allow you to manually enter the correct O.S and model of the device.

To correct the misidentified device on Fing desktop, please follow the steps below:  

• Open the Fing Desktop

• Sign in and Go to the Home tab  

• Scan for devices.

• If the device is still recognized incorrect then Click on the specific device  

• Click on Icon "Recognize" device

In the Fing app I can't find that text "Did we get this right?". I only see "find the exact model". clicking on that link I only get a full list of Sony Playstations.
in my Fing Desktop I can select the device but don't see an icon "Regcognize".

If you click on the device then you will see the 'Recognise' button on Fing desktop (screenshot attached above). Do you see similar window or not?

Yes I got that screen. When I click on Recognize I get:


only Sony playstations

Hi. Thanks for the screenshot. If you can't find the requested option then if you scroll down from the same page, you will get an option that will say 'My device is not listed. '(Screenshot attached)()

You can try different suggestion and once fing is not able to provide suggestion then the option will appear automatically.
