Open port 179

Hallo

When I perform a "Find open ports" scan using the APP with google.com as target host I get 3 open ports. The 'standard' port 80 for http, port 443 for https AND port 179 bop "Border Gateway Protocol". Testing with other target host like apple.com or amazon.com only port 80 & 443 show-up. According to my firewall port 179 is closed, also a scan from outside my network confirm that 179 is closed.  My question is: what is going on and should I be worried?

I just tested this with my desktop app and only get 443 and 80.  The protocol is legitimate but this could also be something to be concerned about (The last paragraph in the cream colored section below) but I will let others chime in as I'm not sure.

Hi Marc, Can you please do the same check with the App? When I use the desktop App (2.7.2) Port 179 does NOT show up.

To make things even more complex, just did the same "Fin open port" on Target host google.com. 179 is now GONE but 5060 (sip) and 8080(http-proxy) show up.

The desktop app has the option to choose between common ports or all. Can you confirm that you did a scan on a ll ports with desktop app?

Note although it says common I chose the all option.  It appears to reset the selected choice on completion of a scan.  Also note the 2 out of 65k on the ports scanned.  Anyway, still see just 2 ports opened.

Thanks Marc. I thorougly investigated open ports on my network with several port scanners. None of them show port 179 as being open. FWIW/FYI: for the time being I consider this to-be a 'feature' (bug) of the IOS App.
