Dead V1 Fingbox

One of my Fingboxes appears to have properly died. It’s a V1 and probably one of the very original models. I’ve tried all of the power and reset suggestions (including a hard reset). Definitely dead and no lights at all. It has hung up in the past and needed a full hard reset to fix but it looks really done this time.

Is there any kind of upgrade plan for these to a V2?

Hey @smackie, just to be sure, did you try a different power supply?

Fing does not offer a discounted upgrade program. You would need to purchase a new v2 from the likes of Amazon, though Fing’s main website might have other purchase options.

As a final thought, let me tag @Robin from Fing to see if there is any other suggestions to resurrect your V1.

Yup. I normally power it from a PoE splitter from my UniFi switch (and have quite a few like that) but have tried a couple of different USB supplies and absolutely no joy. The Fingbox appears warm (so something's on) but there are no lights and no response to an Ethernet.

As I have quite a few of these, I'm slightly concerned that we might be at some kind of equipment end-of-life point with them. If that's the case, I'm going to have to decide whether to replace them all or not (I have 8) or move to something else...

Do you have any V2's?  They are a tad smaller, has a simpler light and operate in the 5Ghz range along with the 2.4 the v1's used.  I went from the V1 to a V2 and have been happy overall with it, plus it covers more devices with its dual bands.

I know there are many alternatives like Pi's with the right software but I like the appliance aspects of these and I don't use things like the family usage blocking by time etc so they are real simple to maintain and use.

    Thanks @Marc

Unfortunately, we don't have any upgrade discounts for the users currently. But we do launch new deals during holiday times like Black Friday or Christmas. You can check for any discounts then if it is available.

@Robin Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll start evaluating alternatives.
