Several times per day there's an entry in the Windows reliability report that says the Fing agent service has stopped working. This is the information that is displayed when I click in the failure report and select view technical details:

Any ideas on what is causing the problem?

The first time I noticed the problem was around the beginning of May. It could have been happening earlier but I didn't start looking at the reliability monitor until the beginning of May while I was investigating a problem with my system that was unrelated to Fing.

Fing desktop appears to work correctly.

I'm using version 2.6.0 of Fing and I'm at 21H1 and 2021-05 for Windows. When I first noticed the problem with Fing I had not installed either 21H1 or 2021-05.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi @OnetimeRacing
As I can see from the log files, the service which is causing issue is Fault Module Name: MSVCR90.dll
which means some traces of WinpCap or older NpCap is still present on your machine.

Please follow these steps and the issue should be resolved.

-> Uninstall WinpCap using Revo(if possible)

-> Disable the Npcap driver service and then uninstalled the program. To disable NpCap:

    - Run this command as an admin: sc.exe config npcap start= disabled
    - Uninstall Npcap

-> Reboot your device to safe mode with networking

->Download and install new Fing desktop version and then open it.

-> Reboot to normal mode and then check if it works for you.

I can't find any evidence that WinpCap is installed on my system. I also uninstalled Fing, downloaded the latest version and then reinstalled it.

Using AutoRuns I disabled NpCap and found that I get a strange dialog box (shown below) when I rebooted my system. I also found the Fing (Version 2.60) won't start when NpCap is disabled.

Using AutoRuns I enabled NpCap and did not see the dialog box following a reboot. Fing stared again once I enabled NpCap.

I have the same problem. WinpCap is not installed on my system. Running Windows 11 21H2. It's been almost a year - does Fing have a solution? Thanks.
