fing desktop 2.5.1 will not install

The progress bar goes to about 50% then the install disappears, no error messages or hang ups, it just doesn't install

    Hi All,

I would like you to follow these steps and the issue should be resolved.

-> Uninstall WinpCap using Revo(if possible)

-> Disable the Npcap driver service and then uninstalled the program. To disable NpCap:

    - Run this command as an admin: sc.exe config npcap start= disabled
    - Uninstall Npcap

-> Reboot your device to safe mode with networking

->Download and install new Fing desktop version and then open it.

-> Reboot to normal mode and then check if it works for you.

The same exact thing is happening to me.  After multiple attempts, the installation pauses at about 50% and then closes.  No error message.  Nothing.

I was able to install 2.5.1 only after totally removing 2.4 then and only then 2.5.1 installed correctly without exiting

Thank you, Robin.  Your procedure worked, I have successfully installed 2.5.1
I hope future upgrades can be done without having to do the uninstalls!

Robin, are there plans to fix the update process so that we can update other computers to 2.5.1 and beyond without needing to follow your detailed installation process? Hopefully this is merely a temporary work around.

I think I will rather uninstall this software if a functional update is not available. I mind tinkering with your installation process.

    Hi @DonAdams
With replacing the new ceritificate, I believe this will be only time, we need to perform update manually. Mostly Fing desktop automatically updates the software.Even for mac devices, it is an automatic process.

Thanks @Robin, I just updated my Dell laptop to 2.5.1 and the update was normal and without problems. I guess the problematic installs are the exception rather than the norm with this release. Appreciate your guidance.

There is no question to restart my machine in safe mode.
    Here's what worked for me:
    - Close fing 2.4.1 and turn off his service.
    - Stop the Ncap service (with Processhacker)
    - Uninstall fing 2.4.1
    - Reinstall fing 2.5.1
No need to reboot, no need for safe mode.
