See all devices - never completes - when computer with Gemtek wireless adapter added to network

When I added an HP desktop computer, running Ubuntu Mate, with Gemtek wifi adapter, it connects to my LAN ok and has an IP address and is able to access the internet. However, when I try to "see" the device, using Fing Desktop "see all devices", it goes 90% through them then stops, and then the panel goes blank. The Fingagent log has the error messages, listed below.
Advanced IP Scanner correctly lists all my devices, including the Gemtek wifi device.
How can I force Fing Desktop to complete its scan of my LAN devices?
