The Fing app has been showing "Analysing your setup 21 checks completed, 7 pending." for days.

Hi @mbrazil
Which O.S are you using? Can you reboot your computer and then try again? If the issue persists, then please uninstall the current Fing desktop and reboot device and install again.Robin (Admin at Fing)

I'm seeing the same behaviour on my Windows 10 Pro PC (20H2 v19042.685) although for me it is "22 checks completed, 8 pending." but that can vary. It stalls and will never complete in my experience.
The only way to recover is Reboot or- Exit Fing application
- Stop the Fing.Agent service (it will usually fail/hang/stall)
- Kill the Fing AgentService (32-bit) process via Task Manager
- Start the Fing.Agent service
- Launch Fing application
BTW, I'm not sure if this is expected or in any way related to the above issue, but looking at the logs, it seems to indicate that the Application is v2.4.1 but the Fing Agent Service is v2.4.0?<div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.087] [info] Setting Fing to launch at default: ENABLED</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.088] [info] Windows: autolaunch path: C:\Program Files\Fing\Fing.exe</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.089] [info] Windows: process start: "Fing.exe"</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.099] [info] 12 ongoing outages</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.185] [info] _____ _</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.187] [info] | ___(_)_ __ __ _</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.188] [info] | |_ | | '_ \ / _` |</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.188] [info] | _| | | | | | (_| |</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.189] [info] |_| |_|_| |_|\__, |</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.190] [info] |___/ :: Fing Service :: v2.4.1</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.191] [info] Service available at: http://localhost:48080</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.192] [info] Command-line args: C:\Program Files\Fing\Fing.exe</div><div>[2021-01-01 17:18:24.272] [warn] Service Info Not Available! I've just discovered one cause of this issue.
My PC has an Ethernet adapter (primary network connection) as well as a WiFi adapter which is only used to connect to my Tesla Powerwall. At some stage, Fing must decide that my WiFi connection is the network it is running all the checks against, many of which will obviously fail. This is what it looks like:
When I find Fing in this state, the only recovery is what I've listed a few post up this thread. It will never recover nor complete the checks.
Having killed Fing, restarted the Service and re-launched the app, we are happy again:
So, to prevent this issue from occurring, is there a way to prevent Fing from 'attaching' itself to a specific network adapter, or device, or network type (WiFi vs Enternet), etc. to prevent it from trying to use my WiFi adapter as my primary network connection?
If not, could this be considered as a feature request?0 -
Thanks for this clarification @AnthonyB
Can you please provide me the log files so I can raise this with developers and review this.To help isolate the issue, please perform the following steps:
What is 'Home' healthcheck saying? if you can share a screenshot or even better a shared report, it would be very helpful.
Share the output of commands: 'ipconfig' and 'route print' from command line
Share the agent log: To access the agent log files:
Click on the Fing Desktop version in the bottom-left hand side of the screen
This will display two folders to open. We will need specific files from each of these folders.
Firstly, click on 'Open App Log Folder'
When the folder opens, we will now need to compress and share the log.log file (titled 'log' - all lowercase). To compress and share: right click on the file; choose 'Send to' & then choose 'Compressed zip folder'.
Back in Fing Desktop, now click on the 2nd folder 'Open Service Log Folder'
Compress all files inside the Service Log folder and follow the same process as previous.
Please attach both compressed files to your response to us via DM
4. Finally, please copy and paste the following URL into your browser "http://127.0.0.1:48080/getFingagentinfo". This will then display device information. Please copy and paste the text into your reply
