VPN

I have been getting DNS errors as reported by FING. All Spectrum yechs admitted something was wrong and the last one sent out a serviceman. New modem -new router. I have a VPN built into my main security program and was wondering if I can turn the one in FING off or if I have to uninstall the whole program. ( Sure hope not )).
I am sorry if I am posting incorrectly but I have no less than 3 new programs I am trying to get the hang of. Everybody is in a hurry.
Regards
Paul

Hi @Ken20
I believe the error on Fing desktop is due to VPN usage. It seems like this VPN is not compatible with Fing desktop. As of now, you can click on error and next to warning there will be (?) icon which if you will press might provide you with a Mute button. If you see Mute then you can mute the alerts otherwise there is no other way to ignore the alerts apart from removing VPN(in your case might not be feasible)Robin (Admin at Fing)

- Don't know enough about all this stuff except to say the problem is intermittent - sometimes all test perfect -- sometimes the DNS error for a short time and Spectrum always agrees there is a problem -- these are the type I hate --one of their techs (Spectrum's said ask Best BUY) --In truth SPectrum is responsisiblem for the VPN . This box talked about --well I have a susoicion that that type of harware was what I was tring ti install from another manufactor when Spectrum said they could not relwase something the box required -- not because they don'y do do it --but can't . So I ended up buying the VPN ?malware program which has been excellent. I am glad To not have my own equipment at times like this - as Spectrum is on top on it. Didn't try Best Buy. thank you for your suggestion. Try this program and tell me how useful it is. It is what I started with. Wnetwatcher.exe. Please give me an opinion.
- Thanks

Hi @Ken20
In your case, if you are using VPN then DNS error is common as you might need to manually set DNS to 8.8.8.8 or some better DNS which will stable the alerts as with using VPN, DNS can produce error.Robin (Admin at Fing)

I'm for anything that won't make the situation worse, I usually get right in and only occassionally slow connections --All i can do for now is enjoy my intrmittent signag and try and find a local buddy or a Spectrum tech to fix it. Thanks for taking the time to add more info.
