I purchased a fingbox and have to now pay for premium services?
I purchased a Fingbox and with the latest update I am now being asked to pay for premium services? This is ridiculous as it seems every company now is trying to squeeze out more revenue on products that have already been paid for. I also do not want to be constantly nagged to go premium in the Fingbox app. Please hide this in the settings so it is not annoying me.
Anyone else feel this is a cash grab? And the price is way too much! This is insulting to your customers that got you started by puchasing your original Fingbox V1 product.

Hi @CrazyHick thanks for asking your question.I'm sorry that you're confused with the release of Fing Desktop 2.0. First let me say that Fingbox v1 and Fingbox v2 are considered part of the same 'family', and Fing Desktop stands all on it's own. While you can look at information in the Fing Desktop app, it doesn't interact directly with the Fingbox. You can continue to use Fing Desktop 2.0 under the Free column and 'keep on keeping on'. The Premium option for Fing Desktop is completely optional, only if you want to use the extra elements that the Premium provides. The two 'families' should play nice together regardless of the subscription model that you choose for Fing Desktop App. This is an opportunity to see how Fing is growing and developing devices and applications that integrate into existing network topology in a consumer environment. The choice is yours to make whether you want to go from the Free model to the Premium one.I hope that cleared some things up for you."There's a fine line between audacity and idiocy."

Can someone point me in the right direction to determine how all of these play (nicely) together? I've been with Fing since the beginning -- the Fing App, Fingbox on Indiegogo and now Fing Desktop. I have enjoyed/appreciated the updates/changes along the way. So far, all has been great.
But now...I'm soooo confused.
It seems Fing Desktop v2.0 was released recently...I'm now seeing this FREE vs PREMIUM stuff and I don't know what to make of it. Does this apply to users of Fing Desktop (only)? What does this mean to Fing App and Fing Box users? I ask because it seems (to me anyway) that some of the components of PREMIUM are those I've used by way of Fing App and Fing Box from the beginning.
As a user of all 3, what do I need to know/do in order to keep on keeping on? Pay for PREMIUM? Buy a new Fing Box? Will Fing App convert to a FREE vs PREMUM model as well? Maybe it already has -- I swear somewhere along the way I read that by owning a Fing Box, I get PREMIUM Fing App functions that others may not.
In the end, I have no problem with change, but don't want to change my direction ignorantly.0 -

Just to follow on and apologies if its been covered..
I own two boxes and an also a little confused with the supposed 'Premium' features.
I'm pretty well secured here with other firewalls and hardware etc. but relied on the Fing app and my boxes as an early warning for anything trying to attach to my networks, not that they would get anywhere with my other solutions but as mentioned just for notification especially as one of my other solutions does not yet offer android notifications (giveaway there probably lol).
So my main concern is that I get notified if something tries to connect to my networks so how is this any different to the Premium feature of 'Intruder Alerts' please?
Also, my understanding is that the fing boxes already do vulnerability tests on open ports on our routers so how is this now a 'Premium' feature please?
Not to mention device timelines which I can see in the app?
Have not been around much recently due to major spine surgery so may have missed lots but was pretty surprised to see this new Premium feature which seems to have at least three things that I already thought I had with my boxes and apps. Really hope I have just gotten things totally confused though lol.
Thanks!

Now that Fing has gone Freemium and I have to pay monthly for network alerts and notifications what's the point of owning a Fingbox?
The reason I bought a FingBox was to get things like network notifications of devices joining but it appears that's now locked behind a premium account with Fing10.
So what's the point of the FingBox

Hi @King
Fing Desktop is a completely separate product from the Fingbox. From a technical standpoint, in comparison to other Fing products, it can be considered:
Fing Mobile < Fing Desktop < Fing Box.
Fing Desktop allows a far more precise engine than the Fing mobile app, but doesn’t require a purchase of a dedicated hardware.
To note: If you have a Fingbox, none of your Fingbox features or functionalities have been affected. Fing Desktop is a completely different product to Fingbox. None of your Fingbox features or functionalities have been affected.
We have released Fing Desktop on a ‘Freemium’ basis, i.e. it is free of charge, but a premium would be charged for additional features, services, tools etc. that expand the functionality of the free version of the software).
In this release, we have included a ‘Premium’ option, with additional features and enhanced capabilities including: Intruder Alerts, Security Checks, Timeline of Events & Unlimited tools

I have a fingbox and use mobile app and yet Im being asked to update to premium for features the fingbox always had. The only difference I see is the find hidden camera feature so Im semi confused whats happening here. I wouldnt update for just the hidden camera feature since there are other ways to find and alert on these if present. I think this needs to be better differentiated between the desktop and fingbox.4

As Shaner1Tx mentioned Fingbox owners already have these tools available besides the hidden camera. I hope you are not going to take away functionality so you can charge a monthly fee for what we had all along?

I have my fingbox since 2017, I get it as backer in the Indiegogo campaign. I have been enjoy my Fingbox feartures as a buyer, but now I simply can't understand why I need to pay for upgrade to features I already had, even promised in the Indiegogo Campaing!!:

Please take a look on this Carlo and Fing company, because is a downgrade in our product.
I have been waiting for the official response.

Hey @Crowgrandfather, I am not paying for a subscription to get alerts from the Fingbox and its corresponding mobile app. Did you get an alert for this from Fing that you have to now pay? Last communication from them was that no changes were to happen for Fingbox owners for current feature sets. Desktop and the mobile app (Mobile without a Fingbox that is) is a different story.Thats Daphnee, she's a good dog...0

Thanks for some clarity. Since I'm a Fing Box user, I was interested in ensuring router vulnerability scan (AKA Scan open ports?) was certainly not moving to premium, though the Fing app seems to suggest it is in one area, while allowing it to run in another section of the app. I don't care about the hidden camera feature.
Thanks again.

Thank you for the clarification.
Up until now it was just not overly clear, well at least to me. especially as it keeps popping up in the app. Maybe this could be amended slightly with more information as to that it's really geared more towards people without the FingBox. Ok, you may lose some subscription sales but do you really want to sell a subscription to people who do not really need it based on their setup, this will only put people's backs up anyway. On the plus side you will most likely sell a load more FingBoxes as many may not be aware that having the hardware gives you certain functionality. Just a thought!
Thanks again!

So this is a rant more than anything. I bought a Fingbox over a year ago and have noticed the Fing Android app has gone through several UI redesigns since, some better, some not so. The latest iteration of the UI is now pushing me to become a premium user even after I purchased a physical piece of hardware. Typically when I get a push notification that tells me to subscribe to a service I'll uninstall said application, however in Fings case I can't otherwise the Fingbox becomes useless.
Really disappointed in the direction Fing are heading in. Soon I'd expect that typical features provided by the Fingbox will be locked behind a subscription wall.0 -
I understand the response now and how this targets the non-Fingbox product users, however the fact the premium subscription is broadcast to all Fing users is the source of confusion and concern. In the communication I saw or within the mobile app which I manage my Fingbox nowhere did I see this was relevant to only Fing Desktop or App only users. There is lack of clarity that could be remediated by only clearer verbiage. When I went to Fing website I hunted and still couldnt find clarity. Make your intentions clear!1

Hello, how about FingBox-maniacs.
I have been reading all the posts and I have been encouraged to leave my opinion.
I will be very clear in stating my concerns (and I think those of many other fellow owners of a FingBox).
I hope I am not too cutting to do so, but it is to simplify things, nothing more.
- The owners of a fingbox are very concerned with the new premium option.
- We do not want to pay subscriptions for features that we have been enjoying for years as part of our hardware.
- We do not want to lose any of those functionalities.
- We do not like to see the repetitive messages to subscribe to the premium in our mobile application.
- Having supported you from the beginning and now encountering this, confuses us and makes us angry.
- If, as you say, we are not going to lose any functionality, and fingbox has nothing to do with FingApp or FingDesktop, separate it clearly.
- Just as we support you and collaborate in the dissemination of Fingbox in the beginning, we will do the opposite as you play it 🙂🤷♂️.
Thanks and best regards 👋 😘

Still thoroughly confused here. Lemme give my go at it.
I bought a Fingbox. The way I was instructed to use the fingbox was to DL the Android app and interface it from there. There was functionality that I used regularly. that is how I used the fingbox was THROUGH the Fing App. I would get my notifications of new devices etc. I got a new device notification and clicked on it to check it out. Bam I am hit with a buy premium now to see what the notification was. No way for me to look at the app. Why were we given access to the app seemingly as PART of the fingbox purchase and now have to pay for a premium service to use them together. I think this is the bitch/complaint most people have. Most people didn't buy the fingbox and interface to it via web browser they used the APP which if I remember correctly was how I was advised to use it in the first place. Now the company is saying no no no the Fingbox is one product and unless you pay for the Premium Android/iOS app or the Desktop app you cannot have the full functionality of the fingbox THROUGH those apps. The functionality is still there but you would have to be on your network and hit it via the web interface. It all feels like we got hoodwinked. I paid the blood money of a year in advance because I didn't want to lose access to the Fingbox features via the Android App. Without the android app the fingbox is pathetic. Most devices like routers today function PRIMARILY through an app. The days of web interface being the primary way to control the device is about dead. But Fing is taking the stance that if you want to control the 'typical features' that were being provided of the Fingbox THROUGH the App you have to subscribe to the Premium App. That is why people are pissed. You can repost that same explanation all day but it doesn't change the fact that we had feature sets we have been using via the app to the fingbox that are now SUBSCRIPTION PAY FOR. That is what sux and feels like a rippoff to most of us. Does this make any more sense to Fing on why people are pissed?4
