Authentication Failed! Try with another link or check your connection! in Windows 10 Build 2004

I have installed Fing Desktop (version 2.2.0) in 3 computers, 2 in windows 10 and 1 in macOs. However, both windows machine, I cannot login successfully. I have done some search already,
  1. I have followed this https://community.fing.com/discussion/2779/authentication-failed-try-with-another-link-or-check-your-connection to uninstall the Fing, install the Win10PCap.
  2. I have run sc query npf, which is running correctly
  3. In the log, it just displays - ERROR 2020/09/22 09:41:17.213 === fing agent 2.2.0 - www.fing.io ===
    ERROR 2020/09/22 09:41:56.108 Client Account verification failed: authentication failure!!!
    ERROR 2020/09/22 09:42:07.772 Client Account verification failed: authentication failure!!!

 What else I can do to make me log in the Fing Desktop successfully?

    Let’s see if one of the folks from Fing can you.  @Robin, any suggestions on troubleshooting this?  Error messages in the post above..

    In all 3 machines are you receiving the same error? Can you share the screenshot of the error and the O.S version of all 3 devices? Thanks

    Hi @Robin ,
      Here you are. Only WIndows got the issue (Build 2004 - 20H2 ,19042.541 ), I can login MacOS with no issue.
      The error message will be gone very quick and it just looks like this

    What is your DNS setting on your Windows machines?  Are you using DHCP or static IPs on those?

    @kltaylor, all of them are auto from the DHCP (and the DNS is from the router)
    I did also try to disable the smart dns (which i have configured in the router), which is also failed
    Have tried to switch to edge as default browser (i have using firefox developer edition),also failed
    (I got a domain name in the router, will it be issue?)

    Also upgrade to 2.2.1 today

    The way to check to see if your antivirus is the problem is to temporarily disable it and see if the error goes away. Give it a try and let us know what the results are.

    Can you try under Safe mode with networking and then check if you are able to login or not? If you are then it might be the Antivirus or Firewall issue.

    @Robin , Thanks. I will see if I can find the ethernet adapter. In the safe mode with networking, my wifi card (Intel) is not able to initial (so no networking is provided)

    @Robin , I still cannot test in the safe mode, but I have uninstalled my antivirus (bitdefender, as I need to upgrade to the latest version anyway) and try to do a login test, it still fails. So it seems not related to the anti-virus.

    If you get a chance, please try in safe mode with networking so I can rule out few steps which might be the cause. I will be looking forward to your reply.

    @Robin, thanks will do. Need to find a USB ethernet which can run in the safe mode. The one I had did not work

    @Robin , finally I got a USB Ethernet in delivery (sorry that it is still locked down in my place due to COVID). I can get the ethernet working, but the Fing app said that service is not found in the Safe Mode. How can I enable it?

    If you are using Windows, then please enter services.msc under run and search for Fing agent service and then enable or restart it. It will enable the Fing agent service and will be able to work.

    @Robin , I just try it. Fail to start the Fing agent service with the error code 1084, unable to start this service in safe mode

    I would like you to follow these steps and it should resolve this issue: 
     

    • Uninstall WinPcap using any 3rd party software(iobit uninstaller/Revo uninstaller) so that it doesn't leave any traces. 

    • Uninstall Fing Desktop 

    • Reboot pc 

    • Install NpCap or Win10pCap 

    • Download and Install latest Fing Desktop release.

    Test with my desktop with the above step with Npcap 1.00 installer , still facing that issue.
    I can see the WinPcap For Find 4.1.3 is still installed. Wil test in my laptop later tonight (and the safe mode)

    @Robin , Test with both desktop and laptop, both of them failed. Laptop also test with WIFI and LAN, fail, tried Safe mode, same as the previous testing, unable to start service. Install with NPCap 1.0 with Fing desktop 2.2.2

    Here's how to change the log level: 

     
    Windows: Open a prompt window and write 
    echo overlook.fingagent.logging.level=INFO > %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\FingAgent\conf\fingagent.properties 

     
    macOS : Open a Terminal window and write 
    sudo sh -c "echo 'overlook.fingagent.logging.level=INFO' > /Users/root/.fingagent/conf/fingagent.properties" 

    That will create the configuration file required to override the logging level. 

    After that use the feature which are still not working and then share the log files with me and I will take it to our developers for investigation. Thanks

    Hi @Robin,
      Here you are with some masking the SSID and the profile name.  It is Ok for the platform detection is incorrect? (I am using 64bit windows  instead of 32bits) (Windows Prof 64 Bit 20H2 - 10.0.19042.608)
         I have tired both copy your link and open the fing app after the SSO completed. It seems the Authorization Token is not valid

    Hi @ReaperHK
    Thanks for above info. I would require log files as well. To access the agent log files: 
    •  

      • Click on the Fing Desktop version on the bottom-left hand side of the screen 

      • This will display two folders to open. We will need specific files from each of these folders. 

      • Firstly, click on 'Open App Log Folder

      • When the folder opens, we will now need to compress and share the log.log file (titled 'log' - all lowercase). To compress and share: right click on the file; choose 'Send to' & then choose 'Compressed zip folder'. 

      • Back in Fing Desktop, now click on the 2nd folder 'Open Service Log Folder

      • Compress all files inside the Service Log folder and follow the same process as previous.  
         

      • Please attach both compressed files and DM your response to us.

    Hi @Robin ,
       Please check DM, as I haven't logged in , there is not "Fing Desktop version on the bottom-left hand side of the screen ". I try to find all the log based on my best guess
