Hi @bigswifty00000 thanks for asking your question.
I'm going to ask @Marc to help on this one, since he has a bit more Apple experience than I do.  I know just enough to get in trouble with, but we'd definitely want to know more about what you're experiencing and see if we can recreate it or not.

Hey @bigswifty00000 , trying to get a handle on your issue.  You used Fing Desktop, set the names the way you wanted and they went away?  Can you share a screenshot of one of the devices before and after ?

Keep in mind that the desktop and mobile are are not the same nor do they share information between them.  Hence changes you make on the mobile app (Android or iPhone) do not translate to the desktop.

I had, I think similar issue if I clicked rescan, names I had added seem to disappear. If I selected my network name they were all there.

@Robin you might want to make the above explanation on the two devices interactions a permanent one. (Sticky message).

Thanks Marc, you can accept the answer as Accepted answer and it will go to the top and remain there or promote my reply, it might act as sticky message then I suppose.

    Hi Robin!
I don't have a fingbox, but this happened after upgrading fing desktop.
Very surprised to hear desktop and app have and store different information.
I would think it would be shared so a change on one gets updated in the other...
    Thanks!

If you don't have Fingbox then the scan from Fing App and Fing Desktop will merge unless you are running the scan from Apple device which will create a separate network due to limitation on Apple device.

I don't know if this helps, but there can be minor differences in the presentation of names between the Android version and the PC version.  Nothing major that I can see, but as an example, the game controller for Stadia shows as Stada-ada4 on the PC, but on the app it's Stadia-ada4.lan (having to set lan as local domain to keep a couple of raspberry pi apps happy).

    Thanks @kjalger.
I had noticed minor differences, but this was a complete rename from human back to model #? on desktop...
