Why is my provider compared with those in San Diego?

I am in the UK using Plusnet, but the Fingbox reports always compare the Internet performance with providers in San Diego. Does everyone get the same?

    Hi Tony,
I do not. FingBox reports my location properly.

I believe FingBox is using your public IP address to geolocate. Are you using a VPN? If you know how to identify your public IP address (using something like: https://whatismyipaddress.com/) you can see if that is the heart of the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion eJony. I have a static IP address for historical reasons, and that link correctly shows my correct location in Leicester, UK. So that's not the reason. My details are correct on my Fingbox login, so I still need a fix.

    Hi @tony1tf
For Internet performance, it could be the location on Fing App is not set correctly or M-labs is automatically selecting the speed test server. The Fingbox Internet Speed Test is provided by our partner Measurement Lab, one of the most trusted independent labs for network measurement, backed by academic institutions and used by Google and other large Internet companies.
Given the different location of test servers and unique methodology, M-Lab test results may differ from other commercial services. M-Lab servers are located in the most important exchange nodes of the global Internet, you can see the test locations here https://www.measurementlab.net/status/.
