Why fing?





I love the name, but I have always wondered, why "fing"? Is it as simple as a derivation of "thing" or is there another deeper meaning? @VioletChepil are you privy to this?

@RichardJansma got it right: it started as F(ind) and p(ING). Little we knew that the name was going to stick for so long.

I think it’s a combination of F(ind) and p(ING)...
like finding devices as a reaction like a ping...
