    Hi all,
I'm looking forward to beta testing the new MacOS desktop application. As other iOS users are aware, the iPhone version will not recognize/save device names. Hopefully, with the desktop version, I won't have a nearly useless list of GENERIC devices.

I recently replaced the last of a long string of Apple Airport devices with a pack of three Eero Pro devices. We were doing some home remodeling, so I took advantage of open walls and ceilings to run a bunch of Cat 6 Ethernet. I'm in the process of hardwiring the Eeros, outdoor security cameras, network printer, Philips Hue hub, Apple TV, iMac, etc. This should open up a lot of wifi bandwidth for the umpteen IoT devices I've added the last few years. I'm looking forward to the MacOS Desktop version of Fingerpick to help me keep track of all of this.

I'm also considering the Fingbox. Eero has a similar service available on their devices, so I want to do more research as to the pros and cons of each (or neither) option.

I've been using the Fing command line utility for years, up until I bought a fingbox.  Looking forward to seeing a desktop GUI too, might make it easier to troubleshoot devices on the network too!

Bit bamboozled. Developing a desktop app where the rest of the world is moving the oppisite direction, and then not developing it with a platform independent technology like Java, Python,  C#/Mono? Got me bamboozled what motivates that. Aside from the fact that you ignore probably a significant portion of your early adopters, Linux users, and quite probably have a Linux embedded system in the Fingbox itself.

I'm not predominantly a Windows user, but since Windows has the lion's share of the desktop market it probably makes sense to start there for a desktop app. That's where the vast majority of desktop users are. From there it's a simple matter to port it to other platforms.
